Sometimes we take for granted that our cars are in safe, working condition.  The 21st Century vehicle produces a “turn of the key” operation that keeps us in transit with usually no complications.

However, it is imperative that we periodically check certain important functions in our cars to keep us safe.

Brakes need to be checked every six months (or if a “sensor” lights up on our dashboard).  Traveling at high speeds with worn out brakes could result in death or serious injury to yourself and others.  You should have your brakes maintained at a dealership or certified auto mechanic.  Do not attempt to repair or change your brakes if you are not experienced.

Oil levels need to be checked monthly to assure that the engine is running smoothly.  if you run out of engine oil, the inner workings of your engine may cease and your vehicle may be caused to come to a sudden stop, causing death or serious injury.

Be sure to keep sufficient levels of windshield cleaner in the event of muddy roads, dust storms, or salt from roadways during storms.  It is vital to be able to see through your windshield during storms, etc.
